ADAPTIVE CANSKATE

The Strathroy Skating Club is excited to offer an Adaptive CanSkate Program with the support of Skate Canada and TVCC! This program is designed to support children with varying physical and cognitive abilities in their quest to learn to skate. It provides children with exceptionalities the opportunity to discover a passion for sport and become a part of a skating community. Our goal is to provide an inclusive environment that introduces children to skating, and, if possible, to integrate them into our CanSkate group programs in the future.
We strive to modify the CanSkate curriculum to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. Our aim is to offer 1:1 support on the ice to assist your child in the best way possible, but because we rely on volunteers, we cannot guarantee this ratio.
In some situations, parents/guardians/caregivers are permitted to join their child on the ice. If you are interested in doing this, please contact our Adaptive Coordinator at skatestrathroysc@gmail.com. Parents/guardians/caregivers assisting children on the ice must be strong and proficient skaters.
Reminder: all skaters in the Adaptive CanSkate program, regardless of age, are required to wear helmets until they pass Stage 5.

Volunteer Opportunities
If you are interested in volunteering for Strathroy's Adaptive Skating program, or would like to sign-up as a volunteer PA for Adaptive CanSkate, please email us at skatestrathroysc@gmail.com
In order to provide a top quality experience for both the skater and the volunteer, all PA’s will be expected to undergo training specific to working with children with special needs - this training will be provided by Strathroy Skating Club in the Winter.
If you wish to become a sponsor for the program, please contact us at skatestrathroysc@gmail.com
